The Winner Shares It All

My ludic mensch Bernie De Koven has a new book (hopefully movement) out called Junkyard Sports. Bernie defines them thus:

Sports that focus on fun and participation rather than winning and competition. Sports in which participants feel safe, accepted, included. Where they can play together, easily, supportively, ingeniously

Bernie is a passionate deconstructer of what some academics would call 'zero-sum' or 'finite' games - winners/losers. For him, games should be more like a carnival, more laughter-drenched, less high-stakes. From his activities in the New Games movement in the seventies, Bernie has been a consistent advocate of the best of the US counter-culture's values.
