Still like to keep my hand in at music reviewing and performing - and it's nice to bring in all the Play Ethic context (hopefully not too heavy-handedly) to an activity that is as "natural" a response to the world as I can ever make. Here's a piece I've just done for the Sunday Herald in Scotland, on the Norah Jones phenomenon. As the blurb writer puts it: "Is she a triumph for 'real' music? Or just a mellifluous comfort blanket for the post September 11 world?" Both, I think, is the answer.
